Vice President Kamala Harris as the “border czar” has been a spectacular disappointment.

President Joe Biden appointed Harris as “border czar” in March 2021. That would be over a year ago.

The border is still not under control and problems escalate daily.

Authorities encountered 239,416 migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border in May after encountering over 234,000 migrants in April, United States Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) reported Wednesday.

The last event Harris held regarding immigration and border issues was a January meeting with Honduran president Xiomara Castro, Daily Caller reports.

During that meeting, Harris and Castro discussed together the “root causes” behind migration, according to a White House briefing.

Appointed in March 2021, and in January 2022 discussing what are the causes of the problem, this is not behavior to inspire confidence.

At a visit to the border in June 2021, Harris made a speech claiming, “extreme progress” had been made in the crisis despite the fact that illegal crossings had continued to smash records, the New York Post reported.

Harris also said in El Paso,” We’ve made progress on family reunification…And we’ve also made progress in addressing the root causes.”

US Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott was dismissed from his job immediately before Harris’ visit to the border.

The New York Post continued that ‘Statistics state otherwise as critics attribute the surge to Biden’s policies. The number of U.S. border detentions hit a 21-year monthly high of more 180,000 people in May [2021]. Nearly 179,000 people were detained in April [2021].

Disturbingly, President Biden’s plans to legalize many of the over 11 million illegal immigrants as well as cancelling the wall construction and halting the Trump’s “Remain In Mexico” policy are having the opposite effect of solving the problems.

The New York Post reported that critics accuse Biden of creating new “pull” factors that are luring the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to this country- a stance notably taken by Guatemala’s president and Mexico’s president.

In April, 2022, Congressman Glenn Grothman, R-WI, released a press statement which said in part:

The number of migrants attempting to illegally cross our southern border is reaching staggering levels. An estimated 234,088 illegal immigrants were encountered at the southwest border in April [2022], the highest monthly total in the history of the Department of Homeland Security.

Of the record number of immigrants illegally crossing the border, an estimated 184,000 were released and remain in the interior of the United States. the 117.989 recorded ‘humanitarian releases’ represent an in crease of 47% from March [2022] and we saw roughly an additional 8,600 unaccompanied children released to sponsors. This on top of the estimated 58,000 got-aways who dodged Border Patrol altogether.”

Meanwhile, in Texas, a state that is sadly and desperately familiar with the border choas and its causes, a conservative Republican candidate has beat. en her opponent at the polls for what has been historically a liberal, Democrat-held seat.

Republican Texas Rep.-elect Mayra Flores defeated Democratic candidate Dan Sanchez in a special election Tuesday to fill a vacancy until January 2023, flipping a seat in a district that is 85% Hispanic.

She avoided a runoff by picking up 51% of the vote and will face Democratic Rep. Vincente Gonzalez in a redrawn district in November, Daily Caller reports.

The seat was formerly held by Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela, who resigned to become a lobbyist, Daily Caller continues.

Vela won his last election by 13 points in 2020, but Republicans have picked up support in the Rio Grande Valley and in Nevada, two formerly blue strongholds wrote Daily Caller.

Flores, the first Mexican-born congresswoman, and a Republican in a longtime Democratic stronghold, immigrated from Tamaulipas, Mexico when she was 6 years old and grew up on the Rio Grande Valley region she now represents.

Politico reports that while Flores grew up seeing most in her region vote Blue, she eventually realized that her views on religion, abortion and border security were more in line with the Republican Party, so she got involved with her party 5 years ago.

“The majority of us are women that did it {voting Red] and are doing it now because it’s our responsibility to keep the American dream alive,” Flores stated to Politico.

Flores tweeted this past Tuesday, ” Congresswoman-Elect Mayra Flores and the people of Texas have a message for Joe Biden, the RED Tsunami is here!”

In regard to the pointless “border czar and her efforts on behalf of U.S. citizens and the citizens of Texas, Flores had a just a few short words.

Flores needed only three words when responding to Vice President Kamala Harris’s claim about “progress” being made at the southern border Thursday.

“She’s honestly useless,” Flores said. “I don’t know why she’s in that position. She hasn’t been here in south Texas to see what their policies are creating, the mess that they’re creating in our country, and that their policies are hurting real people.”

Flores and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Daily Caller News Foundation.
