This week, Fox News co-host Kayleigh McEnany delivered both heartwrenching and happy news with her audience.
McEnany discussed her beliefs, her recently published book, and her difficulties conceiving her second child during an interview with Christian World News. McEnany discussed the challenges she faced in attempting to conceive Nash, her second child, who was born in November, which she described as the worst point of her life.
“Several months passed, and negative pregnancy tests were ample. As spring of 2022 approached, part of me began to worry. Why wasn’t I getting pregnant? I attempted to overcome worry by leaning on faith,” she said.
She decided to put into action what she had read in Mark Batterson’s “Draw the Circle: The 40-Day Prayer Challenge,” which a friend had given to her.
“As I tried to pray with expectation, Satan did his best to infiltrate with worry, doubt, and frustration,” McEnany said. She took a pregnancy test not long after that, and then she took another one just to be sure, and both of them revealed that she had become pregnant.
McEnany, who had previously served as the press secretary in the Trump administration, discussed the significance that prayer played in assisting her in overcoming uncertainties, anxieties, and concerns.
“There’s such a yearning in this country,” she said, citing anger, crime, animosity, and other horrors. “They are all symptom of the much bigger problem and it is the problem of evil that is loose in this country.”
McEnany gave information about the “forever” altering phone calls she got earlier this month, claiming she received three of them.
One of them was getting a call from the then-President Donald Trump, who was offering her the job of press secretary for the White House. Another was the phone call she received informing her of a genetic abnormality that significantly increased her risk of developing breast cancer.
The third one, which stands out above the others, was when she was given the chance by faith to rise above the conflict and find safety from life’s perils.
In her recently published book, “Serenity in the Storm: Living Through Chaos by Leaning on Christ,” McEnany discusses the phone calls that she received.
“It occurred to me a few months ago that I have had a few life-defining calls. I wrote about two of them in my last book,” she wrote, adding that she had relocated to New York City to work as a production assistant for the Fox News program “Huckabee,” which featured former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, whose daughter, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, was just chosen to serve as the president’s press secretary.
“I lived alone in an apartment in Manhattan, and I discovered a city that was much different than my home state of Florida. I attended The Journey church in New York one Sunday, and I remember the pastor saying that even though New York City is full of millions of people, it can feel like one of the loneliest places. He was right,” she wrote.
She continued by saying that being alone in a large metropolis is worse than being completely alone. She added that one evening she tried to call her mother but was unable to.
“I laid in my bed and prayed to God: ‘If you’re out there, I need to hear from you right now.’ I kid you not. In that very moment, my phone lit up. It was a number I didn’t recognize with a New York area code,” she wrote.
“And while I typically don’t pick up numbers I don’t know, in that moment, I was happy to talk to anyone — even a telemarketer! I answered the phone, ‘Hello,’” McEnany wrote.
“I will never forget the first words that I heard in reply: ‘Hi Kayleigh. This is The Journey church. How can we pray for you today?’”
“Completely stunned, I sat in silence for a moment before replying to The Journey churchgoer who had decided to call me in that moment. After speaking with them briefly, I hung up the phone and began to cry tears of joy. I knew, without a doubt, I had just had a divine moment of outreach from the risen Savior,” McEnany noted in her chapter.
Despite the fact that she can’t remember too much of the call when she thinks back on the experience, she insisted that “I do know that person was used by Christ in that specific moment.” She added that “their call changed my life forever.”
