NYC Targets Drug-Infested Areas With Vending Machines Full Of Free Crack Pipes

Democrats love giving away free stuff at others expense. Now they found a way to hand out free crack pipes. We need Nancy “just say no” Reagan back!

The first of four vending machines that will be placed in drug-infested parts of the city has been unveiled by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. In addition to other necessities, these machines offer free products including crack pipes, Narcan, and condoms.

At 1676 Broadway in Brooklyn, a special vending machine has been placed. Inside the machine are Naloxone, a medication that may reverse overdoses, fentanyl test strips, hygiene kits, and safe sex kits are all contained in a large blue package. Health authorities see it as the first line of action in the fight against the city’s out-of-control drug overdose issue.

The vending machine is open to everyone. All one needs to do is input their zip code for New York City and select whether they want crack pipes, Narcan, or condoms .

The devices, according to the city’s health commissioner, will aid in addressing the overdose crisis:

“We are in the midst of an overdose crisis in our city, which is taking a fellow New Yorker from us every three hours and is a major cause of falling life expectancy in NYC.

“But we will continue to fight to keep our neighbors and loved ones alive with care, compassion and action. Public health vending machines are an innovative way to meet people where they are and to put life-saving tools like naloxone in their hands. We’ll leave no stone unturned until we reverse the trends in opioid-related deaths in our city.”

Record numbers of overdose deaths have been reported in the metro region. 2,668 overdose fatalities occurred in NYC in 2021 as opposed to 2,103 in 2020. 84% of overdose fatalities in 2021 involved an opioid. Eighty percent of all overdose deaths involved the extraordinarily strong drug fentanyl. In the first half of 2022, 1,370 overdose deaths were officially reported. If this trend continues, authorities predict 2022 will be the worst year for overdoses.

Fox 5 NY reported:

“The vending machine also has QR codes to help people find services and resources in their community and also dispenses fentanyl test strips, birth control packs, and baggies containing tools for safer smoking of several drugs.”

According to a statement put out by the NYC Health Department:

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has unveiled the city’s first public health vending machine, hosted by Services for the Underserved (S:US), to promote 24/7 access to lifesaving harm reduction supplies conveniently and anonymously to meet a goal outlined in the mental health plan.

Public health vending machines are an innovative, low-barrier strategy to reduce stigma and reach New Yorkers who may not already be connected to harm reduction services. Similar machines in the United States, Europe, and Australia have demonstrated success at reducing rates of overdose and infectious disease.

As part of the Care, Community, Action plan released in March, the city has committed to supporting people at risk of a fatal overdose and a goal of reducing overdose deaths by 15% by 2025. Increasing access to free naloxone is part of the City’s plan to reduce overdose deaths, focusing on populations with the highest rates of overdose death and risk of experiencing or witnessing an overdose.

“This public health vending machine will be a game-changer for this part of East Brooklyn. With it, we can provide free and easy access to life-saving tools that prevent overdoses, infections, and other health risks associated with substance use. The machine also provides essential items that can improve the quality of life of all New Yorkers, regardless of their income, insurance, or housing status,” said Perry Perlmutter, Interim President & CEO at Services for the UnderServed. “By installing machines like this one in strategic locations, we are fulfilling our commitment to reducing harm, promoting wellness, and supporting recovery for our most vulnerable communities.”

The installation and launch of the city’s first public health vending machine marks a successful step towards meeting the goal of at least four machines outlined in the plan. Additional machines are slated to go live in the next year.

In addition to the vending machines, New Yorkers can obtain free naloxone by:

– Contacting one of these community-based programs
– Visiting a pharmacy participating in the NYC Emergency Overdose Rescue Kit Program and asking the pharmacist for a free “Emergency Overdose Rescue Kit.”
– Attending a virtual training with the Health Department and receiving a kit by mail.

So what plan do Democrats have to stop the drug and crime epidemic? It centers on vending machines that sell condoms, Narcan, and crack pipes. As NYC descends into a crime-ridden wasteland, its attitude to drug use and crime has been appalling. Not only in NYC. Progressive-controlled metropolises are some of the worst in the nation.

The free crack pipes come on the heels of another giveaway by liberals.

According to official sources quoted by Axios, illegal immigrant students staying in Minnesota are now qualified for the recently announced tuition-free college program.

The “North Star Promise,” which covers tuition at two- or four-year universities inside the University of Minnesota or the Minnesota State system, is available to students with families that make $80,000 or less annually.

The action is an element of the Democrats’ campaign to provide Minnesotan noncitizens access to state benefits funded by US taxpayers. Democrats have passed a number of new laws that give illegal immigrants a variety of perks thanks to their dominance in the legislature.
