Non-Binary’ Democrat Censured for Harboring Fugitive in Capitol Office”

Trans rights activists have clashed with GOP lawmakers after a censure vote of a state lawmaker that resulted from the lawmaker lying to police and breaking the law.

Believing that the transperson did not have to follow rules meant for other people, the activists were bullying people in the state capitol, and tensions escalated.

Those tensions continued to boil Wednesday — a day after House Republicans overwhelmingly voted to censure the Oklahoma Legislature’s lone non-binary and transgender lawmaker and remove their right to serve on committees.

The move, supporters said, effectively limits the voice of the 40,000 constituents state Rep. Mauree Turner serves in a heavily Democratic Oklahoma City area, according to Edin News, which added:

“Republican colleagues accused Turner of “harboring a fugitive and repeatedly lying to officers” in connection with an alleged assault on state Rep. Bob Culver, R-Tahlequah.

Culver said he had water thrown on his back by a transgender rights protester as he was leaving the House chamber following a controversial vote to limit gender-affirming care until age 18.

The same protester also is accused of assaulting an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.

Authorities said a second person also was later arrested in connection with the incident for striking a trooper.

The second person allegedly hid in Turner’s office to try to avoid troopers, authorities said. Neither had been criminally charged.

A Department of Public Safety trooper also said Wednesday that Turner isn’t expected to be charged with a crime, and that all other protests involving transgender and LGBTQ activists have been peaceful.

Turner, who is Black and Muslim and who uses they/them pronouns, said they don’t know if tensions could be higher right now between Republican lawmakers and the LGBTQ community.”

But could anyone really expect Turner to tell the truth?

Democrats in their Marxist lust for power and control have distorted our founding ideas about the truth and reduced our culture to a crazy mess of virtue signaling so that being able to lie about Gender- let alone about their motives to have political authority over free people, is just accepted as good.

We have become a third world in that way.

This story so obviously illustrates a country out of control. In one state capital, we have a lawmaker who is hiding a fugitive who attacked the police.

Jon Doughtery reported for Conservative Brief:

The Oklahoma House of Representatives has censured a state lawmaker who identifies as “non-binary” for allegedly hindering a law enforcement investigation by sheltering a fugitive who was wanted for assaulting a fellow House member and a state trooper last week.

Rep. Mauree Turner, D-Oklahoma City, was censured by the state House for allegedly harboring a fugitive who was wanted for questioning regarding an assault. Turner was accused of allowing the fugitive to hide in the office while turning away requests from law enforcement officials to access the suspect, according to Fox News.

“The incident happened after the House passed a bill banning gender-affirming care for minors. Shortly after the bill passed, the suspected fugitive allegedly assaulted both a House member and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol officer in the state capitol building,” the outlet noted. “On Tuesday, the House of Representatives voted 81-19 to censure Turner.”

In response to the incident, House Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka, released a statement accusing Turner of deliberately obstructing a law enforcement investigation by sheltering a fugitive and repeatedly lying to officers. McCall further alleged that Turner misused their official office and power to impede law enforcement from contacting the suspect, Fox News noted further.

“I want to make something very clear: I will not allow members of the House of Representatives to use their House-assigned offices and official positions to impede law enforcement from carrying out investigations or making arrests in the State Capitol,” McCall said.

“Our law enforcement officers leave their homes every day to serve and protect us, never knowing if it might be the last time, they see their families. The House stands by our law enforcement, and will not allow what is an already dangerous and unpredictable job to become more dangerous due to the actions of a member of our body,” McCall added.

“The inappropriate, and potentially criminal, actions exhibited by this member of the House were deserving of censure, and the actions taken by the House today were both measured and just,” the Speaker said.

Turner responded to the vote on Tuesday afternoon, taking to Twitter to accuse Republicans in the state of making it “unsafe to Trans Oklahomans.”

“When I walk into the chamber and there’s a gaggle of troopers talking about me, I think about how Republicans have used every resource in their *power to make this place unsafe to Trans Oklahomans. To Us. To Me…2-spirit, Trans & Gender Non-conforming Oklahomans,” Turner tweeted.

“Turner said Republicans gave them an ultimatum — apologize and their committee assignments will be reinstated. They said they’re not going to apologize,” Edin News reported.
