Articles of impeachment for Christopher Wray, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, have been brought forward by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

In the articles, Greene charged that, “Director Wray has failed to uphold his oath and has instead overseen a denigration of the principles of our democratic republic by utilizing the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Federal police force to punish or intimidate anyone who questions or opposes the current regime.”

Recent revelations suggesting extensive violations of Americans’ constitutionally protected civil rights, the targeting of political rivals, and other accusations of politicized or criminal behavior have brought the president’s appointee and his agency under scrutiny.

“Under [Wray’s] watch, the FBI has intimidated, harassed, & entrapped Americans who have been deemed enemies of the Biden regime. Wray has turned the FBI into Joe Biden and [Attorney General] Merrick Garland’s personal police force.” a statement by Greene read.

She charged Wray with employing “Soviet-style tactics” to target every day Americans who opposed President Joe Biden’s policies.

The articles continue: “Rather than adhering to an oath he took to defend and secure our country and uphold the Constitution when he was sworn in as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on August 2, 2017, Director Wray has willingly refused to ensure that the laws passed by Congress and signed by the President are faithfully executed.”

Charges of Misconduct

In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, where the Supreme Court struck down the federal right to abortion, she referenced whistleblower reports that the FBI had developed a “threat tag” to target pro-life persons and organizations.

The Catholic pro-life Matthew Houck had his home raided by the FBI in September 2022 because he had prevented access to an abortion physician.

Additional whistleblower assertions supported by exposed documents show that the FBI additionally went after so-called “radical-traditionalist Catholics,” or “RTCs.” The leaked papers claimed that Latin Mass and traditional Catholic congregations served as safe havens for “white supremacism” and said the FBI planned to station informants in these churches.

The FBI misused the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in 2021, according to a mandatory public audit, to conduct more than 3.3 million unauthorized inquiries on American people.

Another instance involves claims that the FBI encouraged illegal activity. A 2021 plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is said to have involved as many as 12 FBI operatives, who organized and encouraged men to carry out the scheme.

After conducting an unusual raid on President Donald Trump’s residence, the FBI came under increased scrutiny. Trump allegedly had access to confidential documents, which led to the raid.

Biden likewise allegedly stored secret documents improperly, according to later discoveries, but no such measures have been taken against him, Greene noted.

“Not only has Director Wray persecuted political opponents in an unprecedented and partisan way, but he has also overseen his agency take actions to shield and protect the current President and his family. A senior FBI official left the agency under a cloud of accusations that he shielded a laptop belonging to the President’s son, Robert Hunter Biden, from a criminal probe,” Greene stated, citing claims that the FBI attempted to conceal the truth regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The president’s son can be seen engaged in a long list of possible offenses on the laptop, including what appears to be crack cocaine use.

The laptop also turned up information about the elder Biden’s financial dealings, including those from while he was vice president.

Nevertheless, the FBI has chosen not to press charges against either Biden. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) was informed by an FBI representative that the FBI was unaware of the location of the laptop at a certain stage.

“It is unacceptable for the FBI Director or any civil officer to exercise his power in a way that targets one political class while doing favors for the other,” declared Greene. “Christopher Wray needs to be impeached.”

Greene posted on Twitter:

“The phones in my office have been ringing off the hook with support!! We’ve heard from countless people today in support of my articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves and FBI Director Christopher Wray. They want to impeach everyone. It’s amazing. More to come. #ImpeachmentWeek.”

The move to impeach Wray come as Washington is preoccupied with raising the debt ceiling, which must happen soon in order to prevent a U.S. default.

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has already declared “we’re not gonna be political” with regard to impeachment. Thus, it is uncertain whether the speaker will support Greene’s proposal.

Other Impeachment Articles

Republicans have also called for the removal of Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, citing allegations that he mismanaged the border. Greene and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) are among those calling for Mayorkas’s impeachment. Additionally, Greene filed articles of impeachment against Matthew Graves, the District of Columbia’s US Attorney. McCarthy does not appear eager to commit to these initiatives.

If McCarthy agrees, the articles may move through the House rather quickly, but the Senate would provide a more difficult obstacle.

Wray would be on trial in the Senate for the allegations. Before Wray could be removed from office, 60 senators would have to vote in favor of his conviction. That’s a remote possibility since Democrats, who have been eager to protect Wray and the FBI against claims of weaponization by the GOP, are probably against the idea.

Democrats will definitely attempt to use the bureau against patriots in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election as they attempt to achieve one-party, socialist rule in America.
