Kamala Harris Uses Buffalo Victim’s Funeral As Her Platform

In addition to the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, a shooting in New York is bringing out liberal desires to disarm America.

A supermarket in Buffalo, New York, was the setting of a shooting on May 18, when an 18 year old man opened fire on citizens, killing 10 people and injuring 3.

The shooter chose a predominately black neighborhood for his massacre and AP reports that Federal officials are investigating the shooting as a hate crime.

AP reports the shooter, Payton Gendron, stated to authorities that he “aspired to murder-suicide” and was taken for a psychiatric evaluation, AP reports.

Gendron is charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail. His attorney has entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf, Daily Mail reported.

The oldest of the victims of the shooting in Buffalo was 86 year-old Ruth Whitfield, and her funeral was held on Saturday.

Vice President Kamala Harris attended Whitfield’s funeral along with other dignitaries, and was not expected to speak, but WIVB reported that the Rev. Al Sharpton called Harris to the pulpit to speak because of “who she represents.”

Harris then used the opportunity of the platform to make a political statement.

Harris told the mourners this is a moment in time for ‘all good people’ to stand up to the injustice that happened at the Tops Friendly Market on May 14, as well as at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and in other mass shootings.

Harris said the nation has to come together, as well.

‘We have to agree that if we are to be strong as a nation, we must stand strong, identifying our diversity as our unity,’ she said.
Speaking at the funeral, she said: ‘This is a moment that requires all good people, all God-loving people to stand up and say we will not stand for this.

‘Enough is enough,’ said Harris

Harris continued her political stance with reporters after the funeral.

She used the opportunity not to focus on mental health of shooters, but to attack rifles that go by the name “assault rifle.”

The AR-15 rifle was originally manufactured by ArmaLite Rifle, hence the ‘AR’ which never stood for Assault Rife or Automatic Rifle, NPR states in a report on the gun. The gun, developed in the 1950’s has been copied by other manufacturers and similar models are referred to by the term ‘AR.’

Called “America’s Rifle” by the NRA due to it’s popularity with sportsmen, the gun existed for around 40 years before it was chosen to be used in a mass shooting.

AR-15 style guns are civilian versions of military weapons, the report by NPR stated.

The guns are ‘semi-automatic’ because the marksman must pull the trigger to fire each shot.

In contrast, the report states, a fully automatic weapon means the trigger can be pulled and held, continuing the firing until ammunition is exhausted.

It is thought that the term “assault weapon” was coined by Hitler in his effort to instill fear during World War II.

Speaking to reporters after the funeral, Harris said: ‘We know what works on that,’ she said, reiterating support for background checks and a ban on ‘assault weapons’, Daily Mail reported.

‘Let’s have an assault weapons ban. An assault weapon is a weapon of war with no place, no place in civil society.’

Harris told reporters that the administration is not ‘sitting around waiting to figure out what the solution looks like’ to the nation’s gun violence problem.

‘An assault weapon is a weapon of war with no place, no place in civil society.

Harris then briefly touched on the issue of background checks.

Laws requiring background checks are now in place. the FBI has a system that checks on persons who may be disqualified from receiving firearms, called NICS, or National Instant Criminal Background Check System, fbi.gov states.

‘Background checks: Why should anyone be able to buy a weapon that can kill other human beings without at least knowing: Hey, that person committed a violent crime before, are they a threat against themselves or others?’

Following the funeral, Harris visited a memorial outside the supermarket.

Harris’ comments echo that of President Joe Biden who has called for a ban on assault rifles and high capacity magazines.

‘The idea that an 18-year-old can walk into a store and buy weapons of war designed and marketed to kill is, I think, just wrong,’ Biden said last week.

In fact, the age to join the U.S. Military is 18, and even 17 year olds can join with parents consent so the military and government considers these ages to be responsible in the handling and discretion of firearms.

Both shooters this past week were 18 years old, and chose their site of mass shooting to deliberately kill strangers.

Our nation mourns from the loss of the citizens who have been victims of unstable murderers and asks the question, why are citizens turning into murderers and what is causing the mental state of 18 year olds to be violent and have intent to kill?
