Co-host Whoopi Goldberg got up and departed the “The View” set during a contentious debate on a recent scandal surrounding country music artist Miranda Lambert. She did this to make a point.
Goldberg, along with her co-host partners on the show were talking about Lambert’s decision to publicly reprimand concertgoers for taking photographs right up in the front where she was performing.
In response to some women snapping photographs in the front row, Lambert paused her performance and said, “These girls are worried about their selfies and not listening to the song. It’s pissing me off a little bit. We’re here to hear some country music tonight. And I’m singing some country damn music.”
Sunny Hostin, one of the co-hosts on the show, claimed that if she had spent the same money on front-row tickets as Lambert’s admirers had, she wouldn’t have felt bad about snapping a few photographs to remember the occasion.
“Tickets in the VIP section that they were in are $757,” declared an incensed Hostin. “Imma take as many selfies as I want if I paid $757. I’m sorry. Just me.”
“Stay home,” Goldberg disagreed, saying that someone who paid that much for tickets ought to want to attend the performance. “If you’re gonna spend $750,000 to — $750 to come to my concert, then give me the respect of watching me while I’m doing my thing. Or don’t come.”
Hostin responded, “Maybe I wanna play it again,” adding that she might want to record a photo or video having the tunes playing in the background and view it later.
“Turn on the television, girl,” said Goldberg as she stood out of her chair and left her place at the table.
Co-host Joy Behar inquired, “Where are you going?” and Hostin repeated the query.
Goldberg replied, “I’m leaving y’all,” drawing laughter from both the audience and co-hosts at their seats. Despite giving the impression that the debate was over, Goldberg didn’t seem very incensed.

“Adela Calin — who was one of the fans in the group — since spoke out about the incident, sharing that she was “appalled” by Lambert’s comment,” reported NBC News.
“It felt like I was back at school with the teacher scolding me for doing something wrong and telling me to sit down back in my place,” the 43-year-old told NBC News. “I feel like she was determined to make us look like we were young, immature and vain. But we were just grown women in our 30s to 60s trying to take a picture.”
“Calin added that she and her friends had tried to take a group photo before the show, but they “couldn’t get one good picture” due to the lighting.” NBC New York continued.
“We were so excited,” she recalled, “because I think we had the best seats in the house in the whole theater.”
And while Calin is disappointed by Lambert’s behavior, she noted that the three-time Grammy winner was likely being hypervigilant about her personal space given the growing number of performers — including fellow country star Kelsea Ballerini — being struck by thrown objects during shows in recent months.

The left-leaning women of the show made news on Monday when they addressed efforts to nominate a presidential candidate for the following year by an ideologically moderate group, with one co-host expressing the strongest reservations about it.
The initiatives of an organization called No Labels to run a third-party candidate for president in 2024 were denounced by Ana Navarro, a self-described Republican who hates Trump and frequently goes against conservative-held beliefs. She said that this would only benefit former President Trump by siphoning support away from Joe Biden.
“This is dangerous because let’s just put things in context. This is not a normal thing. This is not Bill Clinton versus George Herbert Walker Bush with Ross Perot playing spoiler. No. This is Donald Trump. He is a threat to national security. He has threatened our democracy. He caused an insurrection. He has weaponized government against his enemies and so if you, Jon Huntsman or Joe Lieberman – I love you, Joe Lieberman, but you’ve got to stop this, Joe. Joe, Joe, Joe, this is insane, and you cannot do anything, anything, that could possibly help Donald Trump become president. You cannot be an accomplice on that. You are better than that, Joe,” Navarro screeched annoyingly.
She stated that she thought it was “dangerous” to run a third-party candidate this time despite the fact that her husband, political analyst Al Cárdenas, had previously worked with No Labels.

Another co-host, Sara Haines weighed in, saying:
“There are a lot of people waiting to make a decision that would fall under a no labels, kind of moderate or independent, and that’s a better way to do it than this because this will hurt, I think, President Biden, and one of the reasons is when you look at the election in 2020, arguably as much as President Biden won, Donald Trump lost… There were a lot of people coming out to vote against Donald Trump rather than for President Biden. So I do think they’ll be peeling away voters that will directly hurt President Biden.”
