Peter Doocy, a Fox News White House correspondent, claimed he took a few months off from the network to care for his little daughter, Bridget.
Doocy took a paternity leave in late spring after his wife, Fox News congressional correspondent Hillary Vaughn, started working again. He came back to work on Monday. The couple’s daughter was born on February 1.
In addition to sharing gorgeous images of the father and daughter, the White House correspondent waxed lyrical about fatherhood. The new dad played with baby Bridget a lot during his free time, submerged her in a pool, and even dreamed about her becoming the next president.
Doocy and Vaughn received a pink onesie from Peter’s coworker that said, “Future President.”
“Keep an eye out for the Fox News Democracy 2060 coverage,” Doocy said.
He would get up every morning at seven, give her a bottle, and go on a stroll. Sweet potatoes are among the solid foods the infant is currently eating.
Bridget Blake Doocy’s birth was announced by Doocy in a social media post on February 9. During a “Fox & Friends” broadcast in September, he and his wife made the announcement while his father, Steve Doocy, offered dishes from his cookbook.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre quipped during a press conference on January 3 that Doocy should name his daughter after her. Doocy retorted that the couple would “under advisement” consider Jean-Pierre’s offer.
Additionally, he shared a picture of himself yelling a question at President Joe Biden on Instagram on January 6. “Mister President, What Should We Name Our Daughter?” was the post’s caption.
After the birth of their daughter, Bridget Blake Doocy, Doocy and his wife, Fox Business reporter Hillary Vaughn, confirmed that they are first-time parents. She measured 21 inches and weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce. According to reports, she is the first child for Vaughn, 32, and Doocy, 35.
“Meet Bridget Blake Doocy!” tweeted Doocy. asked @joebiden at the White House holiday reception for advice on being a new father. He said to “hold her tight.” Yes, please.
Exclusive photographs and a narrative about the happy event were published by PEOPLE magazine.
“I didn’t realize this until now, but I’ve been training for motherhood my entire career by trying to get lawmakers on Capitol Hill to respond to my questions. This job isn’t much different,” Hillary, a Fox Business reporter, told PEOPLE. “‘Baby Bridget – can you give us a comment? Are you hungry or gassy, or both?’ Trying to get an on-the-record answer is tough!”
“I knew where all the offices were for senators who used to be doctors. Sen. Barrasso (Wyoming physician of the year) saw me the day before I went into labor and told me to reach out if I ever needed anything. Luckily, I didn’t have to call him to catch the baby!” Hillary continued. “I’ve only been a mom for one week but it’s already the best assignment I’ve ever had. She’s stolen the show!”
Doocy revealed to the publication some name choices he heard from the administration at previous news conferences prior to the birth of his daughter.
“During a briefing last month, the press secretary gave me permission to name the baby Karine, and I joked we were considering naming the baby after the President: ‘Joe-sephine.’ But we can report here for the first time her name is Bridget Blake Doocy,” he told the magazine.
