Following extensive investigations into alleged crimes involving taxes and a gun purchase, the Department of Justice is getting close to deciding whether to file charges against first son Hunter Biden.
Federal prosecutors and Hunter Biden’s lawyers met last week, according to the New York Post, and a decision was made as to whether or not to move forward.
Attorneys for Hunter met in David Weiss’ office in Washington, D.C., with federal prosecutors to talk about the ongoing investigation, which has lasted more than four years and involved two presidential administrations.
According to insiders with knowledge of the situation who talked to The Washington Post, Weiss is about to decide whether to press charges against Hunter for tax-related felonies and misdemeanors, as well as for lying on a federal form used to purchase firearms, or drop the case altogether.
The announcement of a charging decision comes after “FBI investigators reportedly expressed ‘growing frustration’ over the pace of the inquiry, and an IRS whistleblower came forward to allege Hunter has received ‘preferential treatment’ under the auspices of Attorney General Merrick Garland,’” as reported by The Post.
On Tuesday, Garland reiterated his previous remarks to Congress that there were no political considerations behind any delays in the Hunter inquiry and told media to contact Weiss’ office if they had any questions about the probe. However, Garland did not attend the Washington meeting between Hunter’s attorneys and the Delaware prosecutor.
“It is also unclear how Hunter’s abandoned laptop has aided the probe after the FBI seized its hard drive in late 2019,” the Post continued.
During President Joe Biden’s recent trip to Ireland, when he was spotted with his son Hunter, the latter received public plaudits from the former vice president, who stated he was “proud” of Hunter.
Isn’t it ironic that the Department of Justice chose yesterday to near the end of their investigation into Hunter Biden to make their decision whether or not to charge him?

For tax purposes, an inquiry into Hunter’s foreign commercial connections with Chinese and Ukrainian businesses started in 2018. Hallie Biden, Hunter’s ex-sister-in-law and former lover, disposed of his handgun in a dumpster behind a small grocer in Delaware, prompting a search by Secret Service agents and the disclosure of its sale to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This sparked a separate investigation into Hunter’s possession of a firearm.
The line “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or other controlled substance?” was checked off as “no” on the form Hunter used to buy a pistol in October 2018.
As evidenced with the case of rapper Kodak Black, federal prosecutors have already pursued felony charges for lying on a firearms form. In 2019, he was given a three-year term for making fake purchases of four firearms from a Miami retailer.
After testing positive for cocaine in 2013, Hunter was forced to leave the Navy Reserve. As Hunter writes in his autobiography “Beautiful Things,” he was abusing crack at the time of the lost gun event.
