After the popular food chain, Chick-fil-A, announced the hire of a new vice president devoted to bringing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts to the typically conservative chicken sandwich brand, conservatives on Twitter have turned their fire on the restaurant franchise.

It was brought to people’s attention that there was a new posting on the Chick-fil-A website that featured new vice president Erick McReynolds, who is quoted as saying the company is “committed to ensuring mutual respect, understanding, and dignity everywhere we do business.” A tweet highlighting his comments also shows a separate website page describing the company’s “Better At Together” initiative, which states, “When we combine our unique backgrounds and experiences with a culture of belonging, we can discover new ways to strengthen the quality of care we deliver: to customers, to the communities we serve and to the world. We understand that getting Better at Together means we learn better, care better, grow better and serve better.”

The establishment makes it known the corporate purpose is “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.”

Another right-leaning user on Twitter discovered a video of the former CEO of Chick-fil-A talking about an event involving a parishioner in Texas who was so concerned about racism in his neighborhood that he took the time to polish the shoes of a fellow Black parishioner at his church. After that, Cathy got up and walked over to an African-American participant who was sitting on the other side of him in order to exhibit the same gesture of humility. Rapid outrage was prompted by the clip.

The chain’s current CEO is Cathy’s son, Andrew Truett Cathy, who continues to steer the company’s political action committee in the direction of donating nearly entirely to Republican candidates and conservative organizations. The chain’s headquarters are currently located in Atlanta. The fast food chain is notable for being one of the few businesses operating across the nation to observe the customary day of rest by closing its doors on Sundays. In spite of this, the so-called “conservative” corporation brings in $9 billion every year and is consistently ranked among the top 10 most lucrative restaurant chains in the United States.

During the past few months, conservatives and candidates for the Republican party have voiced their fury at businesses that they believe are going “woke” by promoting inclusive themes at the expense of their most loyal clients. Because of its partnership with a transgender social media influencer, Bud Light has been subjected to months of criticism and has suffered significant financial losses as a result. Other retailers, such as Target and Kohl’s, have also come under fire for selling merchandise with an LGBTQ theme in advance of Pride Month in June.
