The left’s favorite tactic, “Never let a good crisis go to waste,” famously coined by Winston Churchill during WWII, is back in play as hurricane Ian advances to a potential category five right before it makes landfall in the Tampa, Florida area.
While the notion has been used and abused by Democrats over the last decade to ram their agenda down the throats of Americans suffering in the wake of unimaginable mass tragedy events, the left has now found a new way to take advantage of a horrible situation.
As hurricane Ian pummels toward land, gaining in fierceness and size as it gets closer and is projected to cause historical damage, President Joe Biden and Democrat Senator Amy Klobuchar are taking advantage of the opportunity in two sick and different ways.
Video of the briefing:
“The bottom line is this: The more we do to prepare, the better off we are when disaster strikes,” Biden told reporters at the start of a meeting with Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Deanne Criswell and other officials.
“We can’t prevent hurricanes from making landfall, but we can prevent people from getting seriously sick and dying from COVID-19,” he said. “If you wind up having to stay in a shelter, you don’t want to add COVID-19 to the list of dangers.”
Per usual, Biden fails to communicate his point clearly, as proven by many people’s responses to the clip once it went viral. Viewers felt that he seemed to suggest that one must vaccinate against hurricanes. However, it’s more likely that he was urging Americans to get vaccinated in case of a hurricane emergency in which people were forced to evacuate and shelter with others which could increase the spread of COVID.
Either interpretation is possible, as Biden is known for making questionable statements. Regardless, he’s still using a natural disaster to push vaccinations and offering no real solutions in this inevitable event that could devastate communities, leave people stranded, and even cause countless deaths.
As of this writing, within a couple of short hours Hurricane Ian has been upgraded from a category three hurricane to a category five (with potential of worse). Senator Amy Klobuchar heard the news and immediately saw her opportunity to strong arm Americans into voting Democrat due to the hurricane.
“Sen. Amy Klobuchar was slammed Tuesday for appearing to suggest that voting for Democrats in the November midterm elections could help thwart hurricanes and the effects of climate change,” the New York Post reported.
“We just did something about climate change for the first time in decades,” Klobuchar (D-Minn.), a former presidential candidate, told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” as she ticked off recent legislative wins for her party, including the climate change-focused Inflation Reduction Act that President Biden enacted last month.
“That’s why we’ve got to win this as that hurricane bears down on Florida,” the senator added. “We’ve got to win in the midterms. We understand that.”
Critic were quick to pick up on Klobucahr’s attempt to score political points in the eye of the storm.
“The new science: so the hurricane is punishing Floridians for voting Republican, not because it’s a seasonal event and has been since before this grift,” former NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch tweeted. “Nice sentiment @amyklobuchar as people are fleeing inland and praying they don’t lose their homes.”
To capitalize on a REAL threat and tragedy people are facing, it’s not only tone deaf and insensitive to Americans, it’s predatory. That’s Democrats’ contribution to citizens in situations such as this. This latest spin on the event by both the Commander in Chief and a sitting US Senator takes the tactic to a new insultingly idiotic level.
