Biden Diverting Veteran Medical Care To Treat Illegal Migrants Instead

Rep. Josh Hawley (R-MO) says President Joe Biden should divulge if he plans to divert doctors from Veterans Affairs (VA) for use in treating illegal aliens and border-crossers.

As Hawley described in a letter to Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), Biden is exacerbating historically high levels of illegal immigration with plans to abolish Title 42 – the CDC authority that allowed officials to speedily return more than 1.7 million illegal immigrants.

After hearing reports of the plan, Hawley requested Biden clarify and disclose whether his administration is contemplating sending VA doctors to the U.S.-Mexico border to administer free medical treatment to those who cross illegally.

Hawley’s letter states:

I am particularly alarmed at new reports suggesting that DHS plans to divert doctors from the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide free medical resources to those crossing our border illegally. In the words of one [Customs and Border Protection] official, “We’re going to take medical services away from people that really deserve that, who went to combat … to give free medical attention to illegal migrants.”

Does DHS plan to divert medical resources from the Department of Veteran Affairs to provide free medical services to illegal aliens?

$18.5 billion of American taxpayers’ money already is used to subsidize illegal aliens’ medical care every year. US taxpayers paid more than $316 million for the medical care of border crossers and illegal aliens detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in 2021.

As part of the Catch and Release program, where hundreds of thousands of illegals are released into the U.S. interior every few months, Hawley mentions that the Biden administration offers free cellphones to border crossers and illegal aliens.

According to Jen Psaki, the White House Press Secretary, the administration is providing free cellphones to illegal immigrants. According to Psaki, the program is meant to track where those released are. However, many believe illegal immigrants and border crossers throw away their cell phones after being released into the U.S.

“There are also reports that DHS plans to provide migrants with free phones,” Hawley wrote. “In addition, a leaked memorandum titled ‘DHS Southwest Border Mass Irregular Contingency Plan’ details your plan to maximize the ability of illegal immigrants to apply for [immigration] relief.”

Officials in Biden’s orbit admit that eliminating Title 42 could result in a massive wave of border crossers and illegal aliens at the border, with more than 500,000 visiting the border each month. This would be a doubling of current illegal immigration levels.

Yahoo News reported today that:

A bipartisan group of senators will propose legislation on Thursday that would block the repeal of the Title 42 border policy unless the Biden administration presents a plan to stem a potential surge in illegal border crossings, Axios reported on Wednesday.

The bill will be introduced by Senators Kyrsten Sinema (D., Ariz.) and James Lankford (R., Ok.), and is cosponsored by four other Democrats and five Republicans.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday announced the repeal of Title 42, a public-health measure which allows U.S. border agents to immediately expel illegal border crossers. While the implementation of the repeal is delayed until May 23, Republicans and moderate Democrats have warned that the repeal could exacerbate a migrant crisis at the southern border.

“It is evident that the current preparations and plans for the end of Title 42 aren’t adequate,” Sinema told Axios on Wednesday, revealing that she met with Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that same day. “It seems highly unlikely it will be adequate by May 23, because of poor logistics.”

Sinema’s and Lankford’s legislation would prevent the administration from lifting Title 42 until 60 days after “the Surgeon General provides written notification to the appropriate authorizing and appropriating committees of Congress” ending the national Covid health emergency. The Biden administration would be required to submit a plan to deal with a potential migrant influx within the 60-day timeframe.

Democrat state lawmakers are even against ending Title-42.

KSNV 3 reports that “Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is against the Biden administration ending Title 42 at the end of May 2022.”

“I think it’s just wrong to do it without a detailed plan. We always know right around summer there’s a surge,” said Senator Cortez Masto.

The controversial Trump-era policy stopped most migrant crossings at the southern border, including those for asylum, from March 2020.

The assumption was migrants had a greater chance of being COVID-19 positive at the time they were seeking asylum. Since COVID-19 levels have dropped, the CDC says there’s no longer a public health risk.

Now, the Department of Homeland Security says it is expecting up to 18,000 people to cross the border illegally daily.

“There is a way that we can actually treat people with dignity when they come to the border and fix the broken immigration system and still have border security, we can do both and we have to focus on both,” said the Senator.

If illegal immigration continues to increase, almost 500,000 foreigners could arrive every month at the U.S.-Mexico border, hoping to gain entry into the country.
